Losing My Mind

Look who finally graced my collection of papercrafts!

When I was in Japan last month, I made sure to swing by a bookstore to get the first volume of しろくまカフェ. A few days later, I made my way to another bookstore to get the other volumes (2-4) AND one of their sticker books (now I wish I had gotten the other one).

Panda and Polar Bear actually came with the first volume.  I found Grizzly’s pattern online. I’d still have to scan in Penguin (I think from volume 2?). It’d be cool if to find Sasako’s pattern, too…

Cherry Blossoms ~ Polar Bear Cafe episode 50
Penguin: The cherry blossoms are amazing.
Sasako: They're beautiful.
Penguin: They bloomed beautifully this year, too. Though I think I say that every year.
Polar Bear: That's because they're beautiful every year.
The post I’ve been waiting a week for

Polar Bear: Oh, that’s right. I was making pizza.

Penguin: I think I’ll take some.

image

Polar Bear: I thought I’d make a character pizza.

Penguin: Noguchi Hideo*?

Polar Bear: It was rough.  When you fold this pizza…

image

Polar Bear: See? He looks like he’s laughing.
That’s not all. If you fold it the other way…

image

Polar Bear: He looks sad, doesn’t he?

Penguin: *sweatdrop* I wonder if that ability is really needed for a pizza.

Polar Bear: Eat up.

Penguin: He’s not the kind of guy you put on a pizza.

*If you guys actually look up who Noguchi Hideyo is, you’ll learn that he was a bacteriologist. Someone you DEFINITELY don’t recreate on a pizza.

This is from episode 50, which is sadly the last episode of the anime.  I’ll miss this series!

Another reason to love Polar Bear Cafe
Penguin: It's been a while, so I thought I'd go to one-person karaoke.
Sasako: One-person karaoke? Is that fun?
Penguin: It is.
Polar Bear: Are you going to one-person karaoke, Mr. Penguin?
Penguin: Yeah. I'm thinking about singing my lungs out.
Polar Bear: Sounds great. Let's go.
Penguin: Hold on a sec, Polar Bear. If we both go, then it won't be one-person karaoke.
Polar Bear: Don't worry. I'll get my own room.
(After that they both meet Panda and Sloth along the way and end up going to the public baths instead)
From Polar Bear Cafe episode 48
I didn’t know you could actually do anything other than drink café mocha, Mr. Penguin
Panda, Polar Bear Café episode 46

They just went there.

(from Episode 38)

Panda: I think you’ve said something like this before, Mr. Penguin.
Llama: It’s déjà vu.
Polar Bear: In French, it’d be *déjà vu* (said in a suave, echo-y voice as sparkles appear).

mutaharu:

Paper craft is fun
Now the kuma club is real and sits on my desk

Lately I’ve been obsessed with trying to track down the patterns. So far I’ve only come across Grizzly’s online. Seems like these come with the manga?

I wish my dreams were like this.
But then I’d wake up hungry all the timeand disappointed.
